testing the game by running through it from start to finish is super boring. it also doesn't help me with proofreading of dialogues or rethinking ideas, because i see the same things in the same order over and over again and get numb to it and can't come up with ideas to change anything. for this i play the game backwards or something to get new perspectives. playing through it the right order is something i just have to do. and now i'm doing it. but the systems get better and better and more stable so i do it less and less often.
230730: didn't add it. soon releasing new better-but-not-as-good-as-i-want version (that's the only thing i ever release).
230729: thought about what to add. tomorrow: adding it
230728:
finishing game.
I also thought about this Dreamcatcher "aesthetic" where they look so lifeless that they're almost ghosts or something. Where they look like they're about to die. Like they're just about to step into the coffin.
230727: doing things
230726:
waiting for someone to take all the knowledge from k-pop companies and do it in a not corporate way, with more personality. maybe I should do it myself? SM Entertainment
and i wanna make something looking like this especially when they dance on a field. the feeling, the colors, the whole soothing space/synthwave classy pop style.
made a short song, and wrote a short thing. tomorrow starts the big read-through of the whole story, i have loaded my head with all my notes so I think I can make it good.
isn't this beat amazing? how can you come up with something like this? link
230725: made a song. designed a magnet factory. added story events. a thing: it doesn't matter how good you get at creating/writing, 60% of what you do will still be bad, that's just a part of it. or i'm just not good yet?
230724: song, characters, snow, landingstrip
230723:
Automatic mountain goat at steep slopes
adding stuff to the story
loading the whole story into my head
230722:
every time i change a dialogue i have to change all numbers in that dialogue (one line for every line), but no more because i've programmed a program to program like me. i can write like a book and it will make it into a program. an automated seamless converter between my bookwriting style and my code style, in both ways. t8 (as in transl8). kind of inspired by this. manual automation of myself: ministry of flat. he has basically programmed his whole career experience into an automated program.
230721: made chiptune song. will write random jokes to fill out the game, those dumb stupid dialogues that don't have to work with the story. Have a bunch of those lying around. And I have TIDAL WATER in the game now. Also fixed terrain problem, again (and again and again and again...).
230720: Made song of course. And going through all old world ideas to design a cool world.
230719:
made song AGAIN. and restructuring terrain creation code to be able to design the beauty of the world faster.
230718:
made song. because i do it every day. inspired by pharell acoustic sound. my own music program messes up loops but it's fun to create in. so it doesn't matter that the songs sound awful. i often have to choose between perfect pitch and perfect rythm-on-beat, because i can't have both because of how my music program is made. i try to find fun things in those limited choices.
230717:
rethinking. is your problem really that big that you can't fit it in a mobile screen? result = i'm not buying a new computer because i don't need one
okay, you're super effective but what if you removed 90% of what you do. maybe 90% is shit. then you don't even have to be effective and have 8 monitors and walk around with an airpod in your ear talking to people all the time. just know what to do instead.
rewriting three.js to get to the core of 3d. and minimizing file. and making it better (for ME). reinventing general-purpose things to special-purpose things is easy because you mostly just remove everything. and then it will be tailored for you and probably 3x better for you than the general-purpose thing was.
later, will try to add old functions (pick up items and shoot them at people, let them bounce at things, do weird fucking shit). kill your darlings because they'll come back to haunt you... (killed them 3 months ago, now they're finally coming back to haunt me)
230716: made song
annoying computer problems. that i don't learn anything from. i just have to handle others' problems (Microsoft!!! *raising fist*). i'm gonna buy the problem away. so i can focus on creating and learning and growing.
I saw a studio live clip with EXID, it was mezmerising.
230715:
created my own music "file format" that is just Javascript code you put into Chrome's developer console in my music creation app. It's like this: file[0] = "hej.wav"
volume[0] = -0.5
start[0] = -0.6600000000000003
speed[0] = 0.14999999999999983
dur[0] = 9.999
mute[0] = 1
file[1] = "169312__frediohead__100bpm-2-measures-5.wav"
volume[1] = 2.5
start[1] = 0
speed[1] = 0.44999999999999996
dur[1] = 9.999
mute[1] = 0
Watched Conan interview Natalie Portman when Natalie Portman was a 23 year old female yesterday, and I must say, maybe she wins the competition about who's the best girl. Not necessarily MY absolute favorite, but it just seems like she objectively is that.
Look at this video with Tom Scott (Utf 8 is genius!). It looks like they just found Tom Scott in a restaurant rambling about character encoding systems. He didn't plan to be in a video but he couldn't stop rambling to anyone passing by so it got on film.
Also, this the kind of swag i'm looking for for my soundtrack: S.W.A.G.
game action: Implemented oil spill and trampoline
230714:
SORRY FOR POSTING MY UNEDITED NOTES BUT HERE THEY ARE bättre sätt att skriva dialogrepliker. ingen siffra, utan bara lista allt i arrayer, sedan sker logiken någon annanstans. för nu är det jätteomständigt att redigera storyn spontant och kasta o. so, i'm inventing my own programming language, at least for my story writing. computerizing my human skills. i'm programming a compiler to behave know how i think, so i can think like myself instead of like a computer. and instead of thinking like a person who is good at programming in javascript.
reverting my three.js version to work in internet explorer.
i want my game to work in Windows XP, 90s Linux distro, the first iPhone, a raspberry Pi, some weird phone like a stopwatch phone, etc. Will add to list.
Thinking about how to excel in new surprising ways.
230713:
to make game good, i need new way of thinking. to make something incredible you can't be usual.
timpan dampkinz album dropped in my mail. finally! it's not on the internet, and he isn't on the internet, so this is incredible. it's that kind of genius music that inspires me to think differently.
i installed windows XP on a virtual computer, to see which websites still work on an old machine. so far, only websites working on windows xp is google and paulgraham.com. and now also: kissobajs.se! My game doesn't work because it uses webGL but still! pussy method victory! kissobajs.se now supports more browsers than youtube does.
in windows xp you couldn't search for programs in the start menu so things were slower because you had to look everything up manually. but things were also faster because they weren't flashy. make a new windows with everything that worked on windows XP, and a few good additions like search, 3D web games, less messy windows and buttons, but DON'T make normal things slow just because you can make them flashy. Who will do this? Maybe I'm just describing Linux. But there's something about Windows XP that fascinates me in the same way GameBoy Advance fascinated me earlier this year.
i wanna try game on windows 95, windows XP and windows 7. but it impossible becus webGL.
230712: I made my own music DAW. even if i told you to stop me if i ever pursued that. It was bound to happen, it simply was. so now i can make music! also, i thought about who inspire me. i have posters of Kanye West, Pantera, Jun Togawa, Red Velvet, Jisoo and Gwen Stefani in my room, to wake me up to the right mood. A day should start by opening your eyes and wanting to do cool shit, not think about all the tedious things you have to do. Who more inspire me? I should put up a poster of Grimes because she's cool and cute and makes you want to do something else than you previously planned to do. And a poster of the moon in Zelda - Majora's Mask because it looks and video game screenshots are the 21st century's nature paintings.
I watched a friend play my game and realized 50% of it is great and 50% sucks, so I have to change the half that sucks. I will add more things to do with the action button (jump, honk car horn, shoot things), more objects to interact with (speed boosters, what more?) and rethink some dialogues because when you don't click through them with your mouse and don't have anywhere to drive it's incredibly boring.
This is the results of a unique brain. When you see this you want to do unusual things!
230711:
Made a song. Trying to get some songs per day to get a good soundtrack for the game. By the way is it better to write here than on streak.club? Let's find out.
