Golden email #19: Marketing is for dishonest people

If something is cool enough it won't need any marketing, at least not more than placing it in front of people's eye (maybe that's simply what marketing is?? if so, this text has no value). If you don't believe me, you're not doing cool enough things! A lot of people don't know how cool things you can do, others don't want to, and some thinks your cool idea is a dumb idea and will try to convince others to think the same. Businessmen who have sold large amount of mediocre things can claim they know their stuff, because they have obviously succeeded with something, but they also get blinded by their own perceived amazingness, and won't learn what real greatness is, and will continue to spread the myth that you need to "sell" your stuff to succeed.

Marketing and sales is for mediocre people doing mediocre things, who need to fake it being good to trick people into buying it. Being real takes more effort but is much simpler. The answers are simple but difficult to put into reality. Being fake requires maintenance and makes you sleep poorly at night. The moon landing didn't need a "niche" or a great story about it, everyone thought it was extremely cool as soon as they heard about it. Yes, there was a lot of storytelling around the space race, but walking on the moon would be equally cool even without the story around it.

Sorry for the black-and-gold world view, but this is Golden Email and that's where I put that stuff.
